Common Prayer, Interfaith, will be held

“Interfaith prayer and fund raising is planned be held on Thursday, November 18, at 19.30 pm on Jogja Kembali Monument (Monjali),” said Head of Culture and Tourism Budiharjo Untoro Sleman, Sleman, Tuesday (16/11 / 2010).

According to him, the unfortunate eruption of Mount Merapi is a humanitarian disaster that require attention and support from all parties to overcome them.

“Until now the incident has invited sympathy and attention from the various elements of society, including culture and tourism community that sporadically has conducted humanitarian activities,” he said.

In addition, refugees numbering in the hundreds of thousands of people are spiritually also require assistance.

“For this reason, the activities of the prayer is expected to help foster the spirit of the refugees post-disaster re-eruption of Mount Merapi,” he said.

Untoro said these activities will involve cultural communities such as sekar sedah, bergada soldier, Cultural Council, Pepadi and tourism community, such as HPI, ASITA, PHRI, Java Promo, Cultural Council, and other elements.

“They will also be invited to attend a regional heads DIY and agencies in Sleman district, universities, amounting to around 500 people,” he said.

Merapi Tiger Starts Down to Magelang

Victim Last 94 Killed, 218 Missing

Eko Sulistyo, volunteers from PKPU, when contacted, said today PKPU team along with members of Kopassus and PMI will return to the Hamlet Ngepringan, Cangkringan, to evacuate about 10 bodies in the vicinity of Kali Gendol.

Two days ago, the team has been through a location which is about 10 kilometers from Merapi’s peak. Nevertheless, only one body that can be evacuated because of the condition of Merapi spewing hot clouds.

Merapi Activity is Still High but Declining Strength
